Retired craftsman

It finally happened! Our oil and paint production craftsman Theo Bieman has retired. Last Friday, we celebrated the fact that, after 51 years of service, he can now enjoy his free time.

Theo started his career in 1969 as the youngest employee at Verffabriek Evert Koning in Zaandam". After working in the mechanical tapping department and the laboratory, he became a paint mixer at 17. Theo can practically read paint. The swirl, the viscosity, the gloss. He became a true master in the production of various oil and paint products. Over the past years, he has transferred his knowledge and expertise to newcomers, including his own son.

In June last year, RIGO Verffabriek celebrated the 50th anniversary of Theo's employment. He and his wife were picked up in a classic car, and he talked about old times with the 2nd and 3rd generation of RIGO Verffabriek owners. Even the mayor of Velsen, Frank Dales, gave a lovely speech. "Finally, we had a delicious meal in the factory. It really was an amazing day", Theo says.

"We want to thank Theo for his craftsmanship, collegiality and enormous loyalty. We have always thoroughly enjoyed working with him in these past years," directors Toon and Machiel van Westerhoven say.
